YOU have a tremendous opportunity to change the world by participating in our new Casa de Luz “Sponsor-A-Class” program!  We have over 200 children, in seven different learning groups, or classes, who are seeking Scholarship-Partners!

We provide care for children who are at-risk academically, socially, physically and spiritually.  Each Casa de Luz child is welcomed into a safe environment in which she or he can receive care in a wide variety of fundamentally important areas such as:

⦁ NUTRITION: nutritious meals, healthy snacks & access to clean drinking water

⦁ EDUCATION: academic opportunities (early childhood stimulation, preschool, kindergarten, and tutoring for our older children)

⦁ SPIRITUAL LIFE: spiritual formation, character building & discipleship

⦁ EMOTIONAL LIFE: life-skills mentoring, trauma care & mental health services

⦁ HEALTH: access to medical & dental care (in conjunction with local medical professionals)

⦁ PARENTAL IMPACT: “My Parent’s School” -for moms & dads of sponsored children (These are offered regularly throughout the year on a variety of topics such as positive discipline, family finances, prevention of crimes against children, health & nutrition, etc.)

⦁ POSITIVE SOCIAL CONTRIBUTORS: an opportunity to build a strong connection to a positive social network which reduces the risk of potential gang recruitment & future delinquency, and develop into positive social contributors

⦁ PHYSCIAL ENVIRONMENT: safe, clean, dynamic environment in which to grow & explore new opportunities

WHY Sponsor-A-Class?  Our Casa de Luz children live in tremendous poverty.  Many of our children only eat on a regular basis while in our care.  Honduran families living in poverty do not have access to quality child care, educational opportunities or balanced nutrition.  Knowing the magnitude of the need, we have decided to make sure every child, no matter how limited in resources, could be welcomed with no strings attached into our safe and loving environment.  As a result, NO child has to pay to be a part of Casa de Luz or to benefit from our quality care.

We have stepped into the gap to advocate for each child and we have pledged to seek caring sponsors who will partner with us to allow classrooms full of children living in desperate conditions to have an opportunity to thrive, to laugh, to succeed in life, and to become positive contributors to society. Through your partnership with us, we can change the world, one class full of children at a time!

HOW do I Sponsor-A-Class?  We have a great desire to be transparent in the giving process, to protect the honor and dignity of our children, and to model a new and healthier manner of giving, which esteems both the donor and the recipient.  Traditional individual child sponsorship has the danger of creating a situation in which only the “beautiful” children are chosen for sponsorship.

Historically, the old way of sponsoring has also fostered misunderstandings between donors and agencies, as we have witnessed in the past handful of years.  We wish to guard against exploitation of any child, for any reason.  Taking these concerns seriously, we invite our donors to be a part of a unique opportunity to provide scholarships for an entire class, or group, of children. Sponsor-A-Class donations allow us, as a ministry, to provide excellent quality care and specialized services for children within a chosen age grouping or classroom.

By providing a scholarship for a class rather than an individual, you can help us empower the next generation and guard the dignity of all of the children involved by providing a victory for an entire group of children rather than only select “special” ones.  Through our Sponsor-A-Class opportunity, no child feels rejected or forgotten, and every child can celebrate a victory for their fellow classmates and friends, keeping the focus on “others” not just “self”.  Here is how you can become a Scholarship Partner for a class full of children or teens:

1. Select a class full of children whose future will be changed through your involvement!  We have SEVEN different classes in need of Scholarship Partners.  Our children range in age from 2 years to 15 years and are grouped according to ages at two separate ministry locations.
   • Glitter Bugs, Tegucigalpa campus (2 years)
   • Twinkling Stars, Tegucigalpa campus (3 years)
   • Sunbeams, Tegucigalpa campus (4 years)
   • Lightening Bugs, Zambrano campus (2-4 years)
   • Bearers of the Light, Tegucigalpa campus (5-6 years)
   • Warriors of the Light (5-10 years)
   • Defenders of the Light (11-15 years)
2. Contact us by email, using our “Contact Us” button on our web site and inform us of your desire to impact a classroom full of children by becoming a Scholarship Partner!  Include the Class Name of the group you desire to provide a scholarship for and the dollar amount you wish donate. 3. We will send you an email which includes a photo of the class as a group, along with some background information on your chosen group of children, as well as simple donation steps.
4. The future is changed for good and poverty is dealt a blow! Your gift directly impacts the lives children as you provide a life-changing opportunity for at-risk children to be welcomed into our ministry programs where they have the opportunity to receive the provision of important life fundamentals such as access to healthy food and clean drinking water, as well as academic enrichment, spiritual formation and life-skills mentoring!
